A summary of Spælival, it’s services and ideals in English

Make it stand out.

  • Spælival

Spælival is a small company founded in 2022 and works primarily with supporting social and personal skill development with people who for one reason or another struggle in this area.

We at Spælival don’t think that there is a right or a wrong way when it comes to social interaction. Our goal is to support the development of skills that are meaningful and help to contribute to a better quality of life for the individual person.

Another goal that we have is to help dismantle the prejudice and stigma concerning neurodivergence. We strive to be a neuro affirming and safe space for all.

  • Services

At Spælival we offer therapeutic tabletop roleplaying groups for kids, youth and adults. The goal of these roleplaying groups is to support development of meaningful social and personal skills in a safe and low demand evniroment.

The game we use is Dungeons & Dragons.

Therapeutic roleplaying groups

  • All groups have a similar procedure.

You can either get a referal from your GP to occupational therapy or from Almannaverkið.

You will be called in for an interview which has the purpose of figuring out which group you would have the most fun in and what kind of accomodations we can make to make it comfortable for you.

Then you will meet with the group of other players for a Session 0 where we will make characters and talk about what rules the group has. Do we have phones at the table or not, for example.

Then you will play once every week towards either the summer holiday or Christmas holiday, depending on when you start.

  • These groups are for children age 10 to 13*.

The groups play for 1 hour every week.

*exceptions can be made if staff and the family think the child would have more fun in another group.

  • These groups are for children age 13 to 15*.

We strive to make the personalities in the group match closer than the age and so often there will be larger age gaps in these groups.
